This is your chance to mix with Australia's most authoritative people on permaculture principles and practices. With session streams that promise something for every member of the family, you'll come away inspired and skilled. A Permaculture Festival on this scale is unlikely to return to the Far North for some time, so come along for the day, or stay overnight and take something valuable away with you for your farm, home, workplace or classroom. It is time to stop thinking about it. Register here.

With fuel prices rising and having reached the peak of oil production, we're all facing the challenge of making the shift from our old ways, to new low-carbon emission technologies and practices.

Permaculture designers and practitioners have been developing everyday low tech, simple solutions to complex problems for over three decades.

Permaculturalists are applying better and more responsive ideas to different environments in every country of the globe.

Bill Mollison, David Holmgren and Steve Cran

Permaculture has come of age.

In three decades the movement has now grown into an international network with thousands of system designers on every continent on Earth. Permaculture has been described as one of Australia's most significant “intellectual exports” (Holmgren, 2009).

Permaculture principles and practices can influence just about every corner of our society.

• Agriculture and land practices
• Greening business and industry
• Housing design and town planning
• Health and Emergency Services
• Education
• Humanitarian aid
• Emergency response
• Policy and governance
and more.

“Permaculture provides the inspiration, tools and networks to make real change now. The possibilities are endless – at home, in your community and in the far reaches of the globe. APC10 will bring together some of the most active practitioners in the field and provides the perfect opportunity to learn from one another and refocus our energy.” - Josh Byrne, environmental scientist & media personality.

At our Tenth Convergence we will:

Put permaculture solutions on show - celebrating our achievements at a Festival of Permaculture - an opportunity to share ideas and teach each other about our best permaculture practices.

The Festival will be followed by our much-anticipated Australasian Permaculture Convergence.

Two full days will be devoted to our movements' future and to developing region-wide responses to the future challenges of Climate Change and Peak Oil.

We need to learn from each other how to:

• Skill our communities for energy descent. Permaculture has a host of practical pathways to stepping up permaculture learning in local communities around Australasia. We'll learn what's working effectively and why.

• Identify projects that are working and those that will need to be designed, as well as ways to assist current or planned projects with better design solutions within regions. This means asking the question: how can we successfully work with our local governments, our community leaders, and elected representatives?

This Convergence will produce a written statement of collected practical design solutions for the permaculture and broader community, to help us all work smarter with government and community leaders.
